Classicism

The term "classicism" is derived from the Latin classicus - a model, norm, order. This style dictates a strict geometric shape of objects, symmetry, restrained decor and expensive and quality materials (natural wood, stone, velvet). There is extensive use of antique forms, motives. This style is distinguished by simplicity and clarity. Colours in classicism are clean, airy, pastel: yellow, blue, pink, green and white. White colour is especially actual. Usually are distinguished the classicism of the XVIIth century and of the XVIII - XIXth centuries (the latter is often called Neoclassicism). Simple and clear forms of ancient art are taken as a sample model, it starts with rejection of the excessive luxury of the Baroque and Rococo.
